Bonfils in Bethlehem

The great French photographer Felix Bonfils (1831-1885) has left an indelible photographic print on the Palestine and Lebanon he saw. Among his portraits is that shown here of a Bethlehem woman, taken around 1870. Were Bonfils to photograph this part of the world today, would he believe his eyes at the change?
